White Paper: Are Transperineal Prostate Biopsies the Key to Minimizing Infection Risks?

untitled-design-50-.png
Prostate biopsies, essential for early detection of prostate cancer, are performed via transperineal (TPBx) or transrectal (TRBx) approaches. The medical community has debated if the transperineal method better minimizes infection risks such as sepsis and antibiotic-resistant bacteria. A landmark 2014 review by Grummet et al. reported only 5 cases of sepsis out of 6,609 transperineal biopsies.

In the decade following Grummet's review, numerous studies across several countries have highlighted the clinical benefits of transperineal biopsies in helping prevent infections. For a breakdown of each study's findings on infection prevention post-prostate biopsy, download the full white paper.
