Transperineal prostate biopsy: The modern gold standard to prostate cancer diagnosis

In this narrative review, the authors set out to collect all currently available data and research pertaining to the benefits and potential drawbacks of transperineal prostate biopsies (TPBx), particularly in comparison to transrectal prostate biopsies (TRBx). Specifically, the authors examined studies that looked at factors such as overall infection rates, type of anesthesia used, deliverability within an outpatient setting, and PCa detection rates.
